Great Dane

Anyone who is a fan of cartoons would know who Scooby Doo is. This lovable Great Dane has been entertaining kids and kids at heart with his adventures and mysteries since 1969. The show has spawned a number of spinoffs and series such as “A Pup Named Scooby-Doo,” “What's New, Scooby-Doo?” “Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!” and the latest, “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.” Scooby and the gang even got their own movie in 2002 staring Freddie Prinze, Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini and Neil Fanning voicing Scooby-Doo.

The movie starts with the Scooby Gang breaking up and going their separate ways. Two years later the gang members are each invited to an amusement park called Spooky Island. The owner of the amusement park talks to them about the strange things that are happening on the island, which the gang investigates. In true Scooby Doo fashion, the gang solves the mystery and reveals who was behind all the strange events that happened to the island’s guests, just like old times. The gang reunites and goes off to another mystery to solve.

Although the movie and cartoon series showed Scooby Doo as clumsy, fearful and slow, Great Danes are actually careful, brave and intelligent dogs. Known to be one of the largest dog breeds, Great Danes are prized for their size, attributes and traits. Although they are large, these dogs are actually very gentle and loving to their owners. They are protective and loyal, standing by their owner’s side, waiting for their next command.

Great Danes are generally healthy dogs. But because of their size, they are prone to bone and muscle illnesses if not given the proper nutrition and exercise. Great Danes are also great with children and as guard dogs—despite their friendliness, their sheer size is enough to scare anyone.
