Cormorants
The cormorant, or Liver Bird, faces culls after angry anglers claimed the birds were eating too many fish. In 2005, following pressure from these interests, permission was granted for 3000 cormorants to be shot per year. It is a natural instinct of this wild bird to take advantage of the well stocked rivers, but some anglers don’t see it that way. Picture: Alamy
