Nemo
Nemo is a kind of tropical marine fish. More commonly known as Clownfish, the Nemo fish name became popular when the Pixar movie Finding Nemo came out and became a box-office success. Nemo fish have flashy and festive colors. Nemo fish are widely available from the live saltwater fish markets of Indonesia because of their popularity as aquarium pets. Nemo fish are not on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) ‘threathened’ list, but, given man’s tendency to be greedy and callous about his activities’ negative effect on the environment, it’s not hard to imagine even such common fish species to go extinct. When are humans going to stop destroying the natural environment? That question can be answered by the nature of current human energy production. Only when our energy production becomes wholly sustainable can we spare the environment from destruction. Let us hope that change comes in our lifetime.

It is not, and never will be, known as the Nemo fish.
This fish is commonly called a clownfish, before and after Pixar's film came out.
Hey Kady! Thanks for dropping by. You are quite right on the "official" term or name of the clown fish for sure. It's just that for children, Nemo is probably more common nowadays (or at least during the span of time Finding Nemo was released).
