Rottweiler

Rottweiler is a type of mastiff dog, hence their strong build and the tendency to look stocky. Rottweilers are a very old breed—dating back to Roman times—used for herding and guarding sheep and cattle. Rottweilers are generally healthy, strong, and calm—making them excellent guard dogs. In addition, they are easily trained, courageous and protective of their owners. As herding dogs, Rotts (as they are affectionately called) are bold, powerful, and devote everything to the task at hand. But they are laid back if not working. Rottweiler females can give birth to 12 puppies at one time, although 6-8 puppies in a litter is considered average. Contrary to recent negative media portrayals that led to their being banned in some countries, Rottweilers are not attack dogs. They are devoted companion dogs—only that their large size do not make them good companions for non-active people.
